Hello I’m Kate. The above image was taken right before I started my first day of kindergarten in Encampment, Wyoming. I didn’t realize at the time that I would end up marrying a rancher. I love living and working on the ZN Ranch. Pot lucks with family and friends is something that makes me really happy. I always tell everyone that the meal always tastes better when everyone brings something to help out. As you can see, my love of all things old fashioned started at a young age thanks to my mom and grandma.

I love living┬ánear a┬ásmall town. Richard from the local hardware store always gives my kids a sucker from an old tin Folger’s coffee can, and you can pick up freshly popped popcorn. When we live a ways from town, I always have a list of errands to run and make all the usual stops. We usually have to stop at Valley Foods, the post office, and the bank. At most of the stops in town, my kids are offered a sucker. I love that when you drive by someone they wave, and if you see someone in town they are always ready to chat.

Our neighbors come to help us work cattle or brand and then we return the favor. I love to think of neighbors helping neighbors. We always have a pot luck after we work cattle. There is something sweet and old fashioned that never goes out of style when everyone is pitching in to help each other.

I love the view we wake up to each morning. It inspires me. The soft pink or bright blue sky with puffy cotton candy clouds. Wyoming is such a great place to live. I love the wide open space. It is such a lovely place to raise a family. I hope that when you meet me you feel a warmth and hospitality. It is so important to me to always make people feel welcome on our ranch and in our home.

I like to keep things simple and old fashioned. I hope when you look at my website and images that you feel the simple, sweet things of life being magnified. There are so many beautiful spots to choose from on the ranch for pictures. Please don’t hesitate to email me with any questions you might have about the session or better yet call me 307.326.8596. It always feels more genuine when I can actually hear someones voice and they can hear mine. Don’t you agree? I don’t even mind if you kids are running around screaming in the background because I’m sure mine will be. I have four kids so its usually pretty loud and busy around my house.

I will leave you with a few quotes that I love from Laura Ingalls. It is something I keep coming back to so hopefully it leaves you feeling inspired too.

‘Some old fashioned things like fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat.’

‘I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.’

‘Home is the nicest word there is.’

A more updated image of me with my daughter Elizabeth that my dear friend Candy took of me in September 2016. We were picnicking at the Snowy Range. You know the best kind of picnic with roasted hotdogs cooked over an open fire and smores. Yum!
