Water
I'm participating in a 52 week project with 17 other photographers. We have a theme each week, and post a picture every Friday at 9AM Est.Our theme this week is water. If you are interested in reading more about our themes each week click here. This time of year we (and when I say we I really mean my husband!) are busy spreading water all over the pastures. My boys take lots of ranger rides with their Dad to irrigate, check head gates & destroy beaver dams if they are blocking the flow of the water. We have cattle coming next week, and the more water we can spread to our pastures the better. This year is going to be a crazy year for water. People in town are all preparing for the river to flood. The last I heard the snowpack is well over 100%. When we finally do have some 'really nice days' there is going to be an insane amount of water coming our way!My main concern on the ranch is to keep my boys safe and sound, and away from the overflowing ditch behind our house. The first thing I say to the boys every time they head outside is 'do not go near the ditch, and stay out of the mud!"I took this picture early one morning...I love how it shows the irrigation all over the field in front of our house. This is the view from our picture window. Soon there will be thousands of yearlings dotting the field, but for now it is simply water.I had to include this shot too. My boys had another set of cousins visit earlier this week. They were able to spend the night at grandpa and grandma's with them hence the bedhead! My husband and his brother packed this old canoe over for the boys. It no longer works on the water, but that is the nice thing about being a kid. The boys and their cousins had so much fun pretending in the canoe in grandma's yard! Now head over to Coastal Bend photographer Kelly Whatley's blog to see her beautiful picture.
