What The First Day of School Looks Like
It was busy around our house on Sunday evening & Monday morning.Setting red colored clothes out for Fischer & Hazen (even though he is only 4 he still has to wear the assigned colors each day too!).Taking time to take pictures of the kissing hand & reading Blub Blub Fish, The Kissing Hand & The First Day of School...Marking all the school stuff with Fischer's name, and preparing his folder for school...Making his lunch goldfish, water bottle, capri sun, fruit snacks, peaches & orange slices and a lunchable, writing a little note for Fischer to put in his lunch...Making sure the kissing hand sticker was in Fischer's pocket...Finding shoes that were easy to wear...Waking him up at 6AM to take a quick shower, and eat a good breakfast of sausage & cereal...Dad found a salamander on our way out to the bus.Making sure he was at the end of our driveway at 7:01AM for the bus...Following the bus in my car with Hazy J in the backseat keeping tabs on where brother was...Entering the classroom to volunteer, and seeing Fischer desk with his name written big...Walking out in the stroller with Dusty at 4:20 only to come home in a run because of rain...and then taking the car up to the driveway and hoping I wasn't too late...Home by 4:30PM & ready for a snack of teddy grahams & gatorade... So far the transition to kindergarten has been great! I thought I would cry the first day, but I didn't. I was just so excited for my dear boy. It was also so sweet to see how Hazen James wanted to be included in wearing the 'colors of the day' with Fischer.Hazen always wears his backpack on the walk out to the bus to take big brother. It is sometimes hard for him to watch brother head out to school without him.Yesterday as I was walking out to pick Fischer up it felt so weird to think that I am a mother to a kindergartner. Time really does fly, and it has inspired me to document these special days. Before we know it Fischer will be graduating & heading off to college. YIKES!
