In the kitchen

We are officially into the school year, and long sleeves are a must for Fischer because the morning air is quite crisp. Can't believe it is already Fall again.I'm participating in a 52 week project with 16 other photographers. We have a theme each week, and post a picture every Friday at 9AM Est.Our theme this week is in the kitchen. If you are interested in reading more about our themes each week click here. All week my mother-in-law and I have been switching days to cook for 15-17 guys & girls. We are busy shipping 5000+ yearlings, and at about noon they are ready for a hot meal.I planned my menu ahead of time last week, and cooked up a storm on Saturday to be ahead of schedule. It definitely helps when you have small children at home.On Sunday evening, I put two huge beef roasts in the crockpot and slow cooked them all night. On Monday we had cheesy potatoes, beef roast, salad, homemade bread & peanut butter cookies for lunch. On Tuesday the crew all stayed at my mother in law's house for lunch. On Wednesday they came to our house. On Thursday they stayed at my mother in law's house.Today I have two crockpots full of chicken cooking as I type this. I am making creamy italian chicken in the crockpot. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE crockpots?I took these pictures yesterday at my mother in law's house. We ended up eating outside instead of in the kitchen because the guys are usually covered in cow manure & mud. It just makes clean up a lot easier. Dusty loves lemonade!  The reason why I've been spending a lot of time in the kitchen is because we are shipping our yearlings. Chris and his four dogs were in charge of making sure the 5000+ yearlings were moved to the right pasture & healthy. They sure worked hard this summer, and now all of their hard work is paying off. The yearlings are healthy & have gained up to 2 pounds a piece. HOORAY!  Daddy's helper who has a constant bruise on his forehead these days. Now head over to Kelly's blog to check out her take on the theme this week! I can't wait to see it.
