A Tea Party
I've always been a fan of Anne of Green Gables, and when I think of Anne one thing that always comes to mind is tea parties. At the beginning of the year, I asked Great Grandma Nelda if I could have a few of her tea cups for Elizabeth. After our conversation, I decided that a tea party would be really special. I wanted to include Great Grandmas, Grandmas and Granddaughters. After my Grandma Ewing passed away in April it became even more important to me to be sure to have this tea party. I called Kristi with my initial plans months ago. She is the go to girl for anything crafty and cute. She agreed that the idea sounded fun, and said she would make the invites and the name cards. She made invites for everyone, and even included people like my mom even though we knew she couldn't come. It made my mom's day, and she appreciated it so much. Luckily, we had lots of willing helpers to bring an assortment of tea party food. It helped so much because we decided to have the tea party in Cheyenne. It just made it feasible for Great Grandma Nelda to be able to be there. It was also a great half way point for those who were traveling from a different state. It was so worth the drive, and the unpacking and the repacking (ha ha ha!) to make it all happen in Cheyenne. We had such a great turn out, and it really made it special to see everyone together in one place.Life is busy, and it is easy for the years to pass by without ever making it a point to get together. This seemed like the perfect way to have a very girly, fun morning with special ladies. The age range at the tea party went from 82 years to 2 years. I'm looking forward to the next tea party. I would like to make this a little tradition every year. It may not always happen at the same place, but it sure would be fun to recreate this special morning again. I made sure to bring a tiny tea set from my Grandma Ewing, and a tea pot and tea cups from my mom. Kristi also decorated with some of her Grandma's stuff. I also made sure to bring my well loved Anne book. Hope you enjoy a little sneak peek into our morning! The light was tough. I just did the best that I could.
