Shapes
I cannot believe it is already Friday? Thanksgiving is next week. We've been reading about Curious George's Thanksgiving Dinner. It is a great book that I just checked out from the library. Fischer and Hazen are so excited to eat homemade pie for Thanksgiving.I'm participating in a 52 week project with 16 other photographers. We have a theme each week, and post a picture every Friday at 9AM Est.Our theme this week is shapes. If you are interested in reading more about our themes each week click here. This week I decided to focus on my oldest. He is going to turn six in January, and just recently I took him out for a little mini photoshoot to have a picture for his birthday announcements.Fischer Lee is is doing so well in school. He was even named a 'go getter of the week' in the newspaper. It is a whole new ballgame for this mom. I have to sort through school papers, and drawings and crafts that he brings home. I've started collecting his 'kindergarten keepsakes' in a plastic box from Staples. On Thursday (weather permitting & no sick kids) the younger boys and I head into to school to volunteer.I've learned the difference between a rhombus (and why you don't use the term diamond to describe it), trapezoid & hexagon (6 sides). I've watched as Fischer has learned to write his name neatly and straightly. He is starting to read and recognize words in books. One of the boys' favorite things to do is color and write on an expo board with dry erase markers. They spend sometimes up to an hour writing and drawing funny faces and imaginary games. Usually Dad joins in the game, and comes up with some of the best crazy face drawings. On Tuesday evening, our entire family was gathered around the kitchen table gluing different shapes within a butterfly pattern for homework.I was the cutter.Hazen was the glue stick runner.Fischer was the elmer's glue runner.Dusty was the paper ripper.Daddy was in charge of making sure the shapes fell into place within the lines. Shapes. This whole school thing is teaching all of us about shapes. So here is my little tribute to shapes this week because they are everywhere if you just take the time to see them. and the picture below is the one I chose for his announcement...Really I can't believe my preemie baby boy that weighed less than 3 pounds is this big?!?Now head over to Dana's blog to check out her take on the theme this week! I can't wait to see it.
