Thankful

It's Friday again already. The day after Thanksgiving, and I'm still stuffed. We have lots of leftover turkey that I can't wait to use in casseroles, sandwiches and soups. The theme this week is thankful. I actually threw out three sets of sheets last week. The flu bug ran through our house, and I just decided at 3am that I needed to update all of the sheets in our house.Last week I also sat on the couch for over an hour crying and soothing my baby boy who learned a very hard lesson about the fireplace. It's HOT, and he has burn marks on his hand to prove it. It was a painful lesson to learn, but one he will never forget. Every time he walks past the fireplace he yells "Hot." I think I cried as much as he did.I've since spent several sleepless nights with my youngest because he has had a terrible croupy cough that does not seem to want to go away.Does any other mother relate to this? I don't really have to ask that question do I.  Everything requires an extra amount of patience.Everything is not easy & sometimes at about 2PM I find myself hopping in the car to drive 30 minutes out of my way just so I can buy a caramel frappe at McDonald's.I put on Wee Sing & strap the boys in their carseats & just drive. Just drive 30 minutes to the nearest McDonald's to buy a drink. It may sound slightly crazy.Does any other mother feel this way at about 2PM?  Still I'm thankful. I'm thankful for these busy, rambunctious boys who are mine right now.Someday they won't really be mine anymore. They will grow up. They will move away. They will marry.I will no longer have a 'constant companion'  following me everywhere in the house. I won't have those quiet, precious moments of snuggling & reading on the couch. I will no longer trip over little bodies that are laying on the kitchen floor as I cook. I'm thankful for this time with them. I never want to take it for granted.Big Brother Undies | Snuggling Cowboy & Bear Claw | Kindergarten School Crafts | Tractors & Pillows | Pigeon Books | Eating Elk Meat (snow!) | Dry Erase Boards | Chocolate Chip Cookies | Bisquits & Gravy Hairdo | Cows & Birds | Dusty’s Perch | Checking cows & grass with Dad | Diaper Bottom | Wrestling | Paci | Go Cowboys | Orange Slices | Special Hat | Turkey Craft | Bathtime | Fox Shoes | Turkey Day | Naptime with Grandpa | Storytime with Grandma | Big Sunglasses | Kisses & Hugs with Baby Owl   Now head over to Dana's blog to check out her take on the theme this week!
